The Emblem Unveiled

The emblem encapsulates the vision of the Centre, especially through the logo placed at the heart of the same.

1. The logo depicts a triangle, the symbol of the most Holy Trinity. Every family that is born is an incarnation of God's Triune Love here on earth (ref Eph. 3, 14-16). Hence, every home should have its foundation in the Trinity and grow everyday in deep relationship with the Trinity (Triangle). the Triangular Home with the Cross besides it resembles a modern church building. It also recalls the fact that every family is a domestic Church. The family is also summoned to take up its own cross (the cross besides the home) and to follow Christ (Mk. 8, 34-35) and to come to the Father in the power of the Holy Spirit.

2. On the top of the home and the cross there is a horn (The Jubilee Horn). Recalling the words of Jesus from the Gospel ( Mt. 10, 27) it reminds us to go out and proclaim from the housetops. From the housetops, the Church is called to proclaim to every human person the slogan that is inscribed around the map of Goa : FAMILY, BECOME WHAT YOU ARE! - This valuable expression taken from Familiaris Consortio no 17, spells out clearly the motto of the Family Service Centre of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman.

3. The map of the Archdiocese of Goa shows some palms trees as a symbol that our family and our church should be firmly rooted in our Goan reality if it has to build up God's Kingdom here on earth.

4. The portrait of Blessed Jose Vaz figures on the map as he is the patron of our Archdiocese. Blessed Jose Vaz's sanctity emerged from his family which as strongly rooted in God. His powerful intercession may inspire our Goan families "to become what they are called to be by God"

The Diocesan Family Service Centre on its 28th Anniversary renews its commitment to the work of the Family Aposolate, by professing its motto: "Family, become what you are !"
