PRO-LIFE RALLY ORGANISED BY DIOCESAN FAMILY SERVICE CENTRE

The Diocesan Family Service Centre, Goa organised a pro-life rally, ‘MARCH FOR LIFE' on the 5th of January 2012 in collaboration with Rosary HSS, Navelim, Maria Bambina HSS, Cuncolim,  Fr. Basilio Andrade Memorial HSS, Majorda, Mount Mary HSS, Chinchinim, Carmel HSS, Nuvem and Marina English High School, Verna. Around 620 students, 46 teachers and around 30 well wishers, spousal couples and their children participated in the same. The March began at Holy Spirit Church grounds, Margao, preceded to Our Lady of Rosary Church, Fatorda via old market. The participants held placards stating that Population is a resource, Overpopulation is a myth, Abortion is murder of the innocent, Contraception is saying No to life, Rash driving is risking others, Abuse of Sex is against human dignity, Promote Natural Family Planning as a way of life etc...and shouted slogans in favour of the promotion of the culture of life and against the culture of death. The theme was ‘Life is precious: Protect it'.  This was followed by the Holy Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev. Dr. Jose Remedious Fernandes, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman. In his homily he brought out that Abortion, Contraception, selfishness, loss of respect for the other especially unborn, infant and old, hatred, anger etc. i.e. the Culture of Death exists only if there is no Love. When Love exists, there is respect, the other is considered important and killing and hurting of the other ceases to exist. He further said that love invites us to forgive the offender and forget the harm done, to rejoice in seeing the good of the other and if needed even to be ready to suffer for the other as Christ our Master did...i.e. Culture of Life. The students of the various Higher Secondaries then presented various items on stage depicting how they as youth will denounce the culture of death and promote the Culture of Life.

The Diocesan Family Service Center expresses its gratitude to all the Priests and Nuns, for their prayers and for making the parishioners pray to make the Pro-Life Rally conducted on 5th Jan 2012 a grand success. May God bless you all.
